ABOUT GENESEO CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD

Geneseo Campus Activities Board is an enthusiastic group of students who work together to put on shows, concerts, movies and other types of events across the SUNY Geneseo campus!
Geneseo Campus Activities Board was established in 1968 to the need for Non-Greek organized activities on campus. It replaced the Social Programs Committee and the Activities Commission and was part of a restructuring of the Student Government, from the representative Student Senate to Central Council, now called the Geneseo Campus Activities Board. The members of GCAB were, and still are, elected by the outgoing board as opposed to being elected by the student body or appointment by Student Association Executive Board.
GCAB originally consisted of an executive board and several councils; such as an athletic council and a special events council. There have been many changes since then, and now we no longer have "councils" but instead programming boards. In addition, the positions of IGC Rep and IRC Rep have been dropped from the board over the history of GCAB.
Among the performers GCAB has brought to campus in the past, they include Billy Joel, The Eagles, All American Rejects, The Driver Era, and more!
Since then, the board underwent many changes and has existed in different forms but has never faltered from its dedication to quality student-organized event programming.
Geneseo Campus Activities Board is now a standing committee of SA: "As a standing committee of Student Association, GCAB is given an annual budget from the collection of mandatory student activity fees. The status of standing committee allows the GCAB chair to serve on SA Exec as the Director of Student Programming. This puts GCAB in a unique position to collaborate with the many other student groups on campus in a meaningful way."
